What is the mouse test?
A mouse test checks that your mouse hardware works correctly. On soexam.learnoscale.com you can verify the left, right, middle and side buttons, the scroll wheel in both directions, double-click faults (a worn switch firing twice — any click under 80 ms after the last one is flagged as a ghost click) and your polling rate in hertz. 125 Hz is typical for an office mouse and 500 to 1000 Hz for a gaming one. Nothing to install.

Tips to get a better score
- Test on a hard, flat surface — an optical sensor on glass or cloth reports movement that never happened.
- If a button fails, try another USB port and cable before assuming the mouse is dead.
- On a wireless mouse, replace the batteries before concluding anything: a flat cell drops inputs first.
- A switch that double-clicks consistently is worn. No setting fixes it; the switch needs replacing.
- A higher polling rate reports your position more often. It will not make a worn switch behave.
Questions and answers
What does an online mouse test check?
It checks that each mouse button registers, that the scroll wheel reports both directions, whether the mouse double-clicks when you click once, and how often the mouse reports its position — its polling rate in hertz.
What is a ghost click or double click fault?
A ghost click is a second click your mouse sends that you did not make, caused by a worn switch. This test flags any click arriving under 80 ms after the previous one, or within 30 ms of the button being released.
What polling rate should my mouse have?
125 Hz is normal for an office mouse, 500 to 1000 Hz for a gaming mouse, and newer gaming mice reach 2000 to 8000 Hz. A higher rate reports your position more often; it will not make a worn switch behave.
My mouse failed a test — what now?
Try a different USB port and cable, replace the batteries on a wireless mouse, clean around the switch, and reinstall or update the driver. A switch that double-clicks consistently is worn and needs replacing.
